Show Gratitude, Support Students During Thank-a-Thon

What better way to celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving than giving thanks to a 4J educator who made a difference in your life — while supporting current students at the same time.
Dr. Larry Hirons, a 1959 South Eugene High School graduate whose father started Hirons pharmacy, has pledged up to a $17,900 donation to the Eugene Education Foundation for students, families and community members who write handwritten notes of gratitude to 4J teachers and educators, both past and present. Presented by SELCO Community Credit Union, the Thank-a-Thon aims to celebrate and recognize the educators who influence the lives of 4J students.
Here's how it works: For each thank-you note submitted in one of two ways, Dr. Hirons will donate a minimum of $150 to the foundation, up to a maximum of $17,900. The money will go toward the foundation's annual classroom grant program that benefits 4J students.
How to submit a thank-you note for mailing or delivery:
- Fill out the online form and indicate whether you'll mail a handwritten note, or request to have the foundation write out the note based on your message.
- Write your note at the foundation's Gratitude Gathering this Tuesday, Nov. 25, from 5–7 p.m., at McKenzie Brewing, 590 Pearl St. All materials for writing notes will be provided.
Let's make the holiday season more meaningful for 4J's active and retired educators – and raise money for 4J classrooms — through this simple but powerful gesture!
