School Board Members Sworn In
Dr. Miriam Mickelson administered the oaths of office to three school board members during her first meeting as 4J’s superintendent on Wednesday, July 9.
Voters elected board member Ericka Thessen and re-elected board members Judy Newman and Maya Rabasa to four-year terms in May.
Following the swearing-in, the board elected their officers for the year. Tom Di Liberto will serve as chair and Ericka Thessen as vice chair during the 2025-26 school year. The chair works with the superintendent to establish board meeting agendas, lead the meetings, represent the board and district at official functions, and assign board members to committees. The vice chair performs those duties in the chair’s absense.
The seven-member school board had appointed Ms. Thessen to her seat in October 2023 to serve out the remaining term of a board member who had resigned. Ms. Newman and Ms. Rabasa were elected to their third and second four-year terms, respectively.
The meeting was the board’s first since the board members’ terms began on July 1, the first day on the job for Dr. Mickelson.
The board’s next meeting is Wednesday, Aug. 6, starting at 6 p.m. More information about school board meetings are available on 4J's website.
