Celebrating Music In Our Schools Month

Please join us in celebrating the 40th annual Music In Our Schools Month! Every March, school music programs highlight the lasting positive impact of music education on the academic, personal, and professional growth of students. Music education has the power to shape the way our students understand themselves and the world around them. 4J’s outstanding music educators lead our music programs and inspire our students through music every day.
Did you know:
- Elementary school students in 4J receive two 30-minute music classes per week taught by highly-qualified music educators
- Middle and high school students can join curricular performance ensembles in band, choir, and orchestra.
- Multiple levels of band are offered at all regional middle and high schools.
- Multi-level choral programs are available at all regional high schools, including traditional and jazz or contemporary a cappella choirs.
- Middle school students can join choir at Cal Young, Monroe, Roosevelt, Madison, Kelly, and ATA.
- Middle school students can join the orchestras at Kelly or Roosevelt Middle Schools.
- High school students can join the orchestras at Sheldon and South Eugene High Schools.
- Most middle and high schools offer a variety of non-performance music electives including music production, history of rock and roll, music appreciation, and more.
We encourage everyone in the community to reflect on how music has impacted their lives and celebrate Music In Our Schools Month throughout March!
You can see school music programs in action at the upcoming events.
