Hop Aboard: New Bus Drivers Can Earn $2,000 Hiring Incentive

There’s no better time to hop aboard and become a bus driver for 4J.
New employees can earn a $2,000 incentive after being hired in a classified transportation job that requires them to drive a bus. They could also earn another $1,000 incentive if they refer an applicant who is hired as a bus driver. In addition, the district will pay or reimburse the cost of permit and license fees so employees can drive a school bus for 4J.
The incentives are in addition to the other benefits that make the district a great place to work: competitive pay, high-quality and affordable insurance, and the opportunity to serve the young people in our local community every day. 4J’s school bus drivers play a key role in student success, getting students safely to and from school, and engaging daily with young people and their families in our community to make a positive impact.
Eligible transportation employees for retention and hiring incentives are bus drivers, dispatchers, assistant dispatchers, mechanics, routers, route planning coordinators and trainers who have a valid Oregon school bus driving certificate.
4J continues to have too few candidates for transportation jobs. The incentives are one way 4J is taking to hire and retain qualified employees in rewarding positions serving the local community.
