Workplace Accommodations

In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendment Act of 2008 (ADA), Eugene School District 4J is committed to maintaining employment practices, services, programs, and activities that provide equity to qualified individuals with disabilities.

Our ADA accommodation process is an open, interactive, and collaborative process designed to identify potential modifications and/or adjustments needed by current and prospective employees who may experience employment-related barriers due to disability.  The ultimate goal of the process is to support employee efforts to safely and successfully perform all of the essential functions of their role.

More information regarding ADA accommodations can be found here: Frequently asked questions regarding ADA accommodations.

Workplace Accommodations during the coronavirus pandemic

COVID-19 is a new disease that health care providers are learning more about every day. While everyone exposed to the coronavirus is at risk of contracting COVID-19, some people are more likely than others to become severely ill. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identifies older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions as likely to have increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19.

It is important to understand that not all staff who may have increased risk for severe illness are automatically eligible for workplace accommodations under ADA. Regardless, non-disability related requests for workplace accommodations and/or flexibilities that support staff efforts to perform the essential functions of their jobs will be considered on a case by case basis during this pandemic.
