Student Conduct & Discipline

A Message from Superintendent Dr. Miriam Mickelson

Every student in Eugene School District 4J deserves to learn and thrive in a safe, respectful and welcoming school environment. Creating and sustaining that environment is a shared responsibility—among students, families and school staff.

This Student Rights & Responsibilities Handbook outlines key rights, responsibilities and behavior expectations that support a positive school climate. While it provides important guidance, it does not cover every possible situation or detail the many ways our schools support students in making responsible choices.

Each school may have additional rules tailored to its unique community, but all must align with district policy and state law.

We encourage students and families to read through this handbook together and refer back to it throughout the year. By working in partnership, we can ensure that every 4J student feels supported and empowered to succeed.
