Video overview: Preventive protocols to protect students and staff against spreading COVID-19 in schools and to families

Video in English | Video en español

Eugene School District 4J is deeply committed to the health and safety of all our students and staff. The district has established health and safety protocols, in alignment with state and federal laws and guidelines, to protect staff and students’ health and reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 at school, to families, and in the community.

The video below provides an overview of the district’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols for when students return to in-person, full-time learning for the 2021–22 school year.

The 10-minute video covers preventive measures such as vaccines, face masks, handwashing, ventilation and cleaning, plus daily screening and optional COVID-19 testing for students. Procedures for notification and quarantining if a student is exposed to COVID-19 are also covered, as well as some frequently asked questions.

Public health recommendations and state requirements for COVID mitigation in schools have changed since earlier in the pandemic, when less was known about how the virus spreads. The district’s prevention measures have been updated to reflect changes in guidance and key practices for reducing the spread of COVID in schools.

More details are available in the district’s 2021–22 COVID-19 Communicable Disease Management Plan.
