School Board to Resume Meeting In Person

Board members will meet in-person on March 17 • Meeting is open to the public via radio, audio and video stream

Eugene School District 4J’s Board of Directors will resume meeting in-person for the first time in more than a year on Wednesday, March 17. The 7 p.m. meeting will be open to the public virtually.

The school board has met online since March 18, 2020, in an effort to reduce the spread of coronavirus COVID-19, and in adherence to Governor Kate Brown’s executive orders.

Now, with students beginning to return to school buildings for on-site learning in a hybrid model, the school board is beginning to resume some in-person meetings as well, also in a hybrid model at this time. Board members and key staff will meet in a combination of on-site and virtual attendance, and the public will attend virtually.

The meeting will be open to the public in real-time via video stream on Zoom, audio stream on the district website, and radio broadcast on KRVM 1280-AM. Audio recordings of board meetings also are posted online within 48 hours following the meeting.

Community members may provide public comment to the school board via Zoom. To sign up to speak to the board at the next regular board meeting, submit a request by 5 p.m. on the Monday before the meeting. Up to 10 community members will be scheduled to provide public comment at each meeting. The time limit per speaker is 3 minutes. If more than 10 people request to speak, priority will be given to residents who did not provide public comment during the previous two meetings, then the selection of speakers will be determined randomly.

Board members also read emails with written comments sent to board@4j.lane.edu.

Meetings are listed by date and the agenda and materials for each board meeting are posted on the Friday afternoon preceding the meeting.
