Crossroads Ad Hoc Planning Team

The bond measure passed by voters in 2013 is helping Eugene 4J update technology to provide a high-quality education for every student and prepare our children for the challenging world ahead.

A joint district and community team was convened several times in October 2013 to discuss expenditures for the instructional technology portion of the bond budget. These discussions centered around creating the principles that would guide expenditures. The principles align with the state’s 40/40/20 goal, Common Core State Standards (CCSS), Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS),

Charge of Initial Team

  • Review the current state of instructional technology in each school and establish a baseline level of service;
  • Develop guiding principles for replacement of aging student technology equipment;
  • Review previous grants, projects, and pilots centered on mobile technology in 4J schools
  • Explore alternative ideas for use of instructional technology (e.g. Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), interactive eTextbooks);
  • Discuss professional development, equity, and curriculum for technology access and integration
