Mission Statement:
To provide a balanced and rich experience that fosters each child's physical, social, intellectual and emotional development, and where children reach their highest potential in a safe, collaborative and engaging environment.
Program Description:
Willagillespie is a neighborhood gem. Staffed by a dedicated and hard-working group, we set high expectations for ourselves as well as the students. Decisions are data driven, the educational program is comprehensive, and students learn in a safe,positive, and caring atmosphere.We now qualify as a Target and Assist Title 1 school.
School Highlights:
  • Active Site Council and Parent Teacher Organization, with a strong parent and community volunteer presence.
  • Fee-based Extended day kindergarten (eaglet program)provided on site; on-site child care provided by Creative Care.
  • After school programs such as, technology club, choir, Korean Language and Culture club, math intervention, and Read Naturally program to improve fluency. Fee-based after-school programs are: writing and art clubs.
  • "Brain-Friendly" classrooms, and Cutting-edge technology, such as hand-held computers; SMART Boards, document cameras, computers on wheels, etc.

  • To increase student achievement for all students and close the achievement gap.
  • To create a school climate that is safe, and values all members of our school community
  • To increase parent and community involvement
  • To integrate technology into all content areas such as, Reading, Writing and Math
