Program Description:
4J’s alternative education programs are aimed primarily at students who have dropped out or who are at risk of dropping out, or students who for various reasons have not experienced success in a traditional classroom setting. 4J's Education Options programs offer extensive opportunities for independent study and nontraditional methods for completing high school graduation requirements. Instruction is largely individualized and students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and discipline. A strong school-to-work transition program allows students to explore career opportunities while they earn credit.
Other Information:
A growing number of students do not find success in traditional high school programs. These students have widely dissimilar capacities and motivations for learning. Their learning is often affected by a sense of isolation in large and impersonal institutions. Eugene Education Options are designed to better serve these youth with rigorous academic programs that also stress community, personal growth and social success.
If you are interested in an alternative education placement, talk to your high school counselor.
