The Eugene School District is seeking applications for two positions on its volunteer budget committee. Anyone interested in serving in these positions should complete and return an application by Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 5 p.m., then attend and speak at the school board meeting on Wednesday, September 15 at 7 p.m. The board will appoint two committee members after hearing from all applicants in attendance. 

 

Positions

The openings are for two positions that would serve through June 30, 2013. The school board on Sept. 15 will appoint applicants to fill positions held by Debra Smith and Shirley Clark, whose terms expired this summer. Members with expired terms may re-apply.

Requirements

Applicants must be registered voters and must live within the boundaries of the Eugene School District. Applicants do not need to be parents. 4J employees are not eligible for appointment.

 Applications must be received by Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 5 p.m.

The Eugene School Board will appoint two budget committee members at the school board meeting on Wednesday, September 15, at 7 p.m. at the 4J Education Center, 200 N. Monroe Street. Applicants should attend the meeting and be prepared to briefly speak and answer questions from the board about their interest in the position. After hearing from applicants, the board will openly elect two appointees.

Term of Service

 The 4J Budget Committee is expected to meet several times over the coming school year, beginning in or around October. Meetings are normally scheduled on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. New appointees may also be expected to participate in an orientation in the fall. The appointed members will serve through June 30, 2013. If an appointee wishes to serve longer, she or he may apply for reappointment in 2013.

About the Budget Committee

 The Budget Committee has 14 members: the seven elected school board members and seven citizens appointed to three-year terms by the board.
