Summer Construction Projects In Progress

Facility improvement projects are underway, preparing schools for students’ return in fall 2021

School’s out for summer, and construction crews are hard at work across the district making improvements to school facilities while students are out of school.

In addition to the annual summer work of deep cleaning, groundskeeping and maintenance projects, the 4J facilities team is tackling more than 20 school improvement projects including painting, classroom improvements, and building renovations such as replacing bleachers, remodeling locker rooms and installing a new readerboard.

Schools, fields and other facilities will receive some TLC this summer, including:

  • Classroom renovations — multiple sites
  • Entrance renovation — Twin Oaks Elementary School
  • Restroom renovation — Fox Hollow Campus
  • Modular classroom design — Kelly Middle School
  • Turf replacements — Sheldon and Churchill high schools
  • Track topcoat/striping — Churchill, North Eugene and South Eugene high schools
  • Exterior painting — Kennedy Middle School, district office and other sites
  • Readerboard installation — South Eugene High School
  • Bleacher replacement — Kennedy and Monroe middle schools
  • Locker room remodel — Churchill and Sheldon high schools

Work also is continuing this summer on the Gilham Elementary School expansion and the new buildings for Edison Elementary School and North Eugene High School.

Many of these improvements are possible thanks to the bond measures approved by voters in 2013 and 2018. Thank you, voters, for investing in our community’s future.
