8th Site Added for Youth Meal Box Pickup

Free meal boxes available for pickup Wednesdays at Arts & Technology Academy, Cal Young, Howard, Kennedy, Madison, Monroe, Roosevelt, Spencer Butte

Eugene School District 4J is offering free grab-and-go meal boxes for 4J students and other youth every Wednesday. No application or pre-registration is required.

Starting this week, one more pickup site has been added: Arts & Technology Academy, at 1650 W. 22nd Ave.

Meal boxes can be picked up between 12:45–2:15 p.m. on Wednesdays at eight school sites across the district: Arts & Technology Academy, Cal Young, Kennedy, Madison, Monroe, Roosevelt and Spencer Butte middle schools, and Howard Elementary School (next door to Kelly Middle School).

Families can pick up meals at any location regardless of where they live or attend school. Families who are not able to pick up a meal box at the scheduled time can email 4jmeals@4j.lane.edu and request to pick up a meal box at the district office at a different time.

The weekly meal box features “heat and eat” meals. Each box contains four days of breakfasts and lunches, plus five dinner meals. Vegetarian, made-without-gluten, and soy milk options are available.

Free meals are provided for all 4J students and all youth age 18 and under. There are no income requirements and no application process.

Since March 2020, Eugene School District 4J has provided about 1.9 million free nutritious meals to local children and youth. Free meals will be available this summer and throughout the 2021–22 school year, thanks to the extension of a federal program that makes it possible to provide free meals for all students and youth without application requirements.

Wednesdays through June 30, 12:45–2:15 p.m.
