Innovative Summer High School Courses Offered

4J teachers offer creative, short-span summer courses for students entering grades 9–12

Summer Intensive Program Info & Registration

Let’s continue the learning! Eugene School District 4J’s summer intensive program provides students who will be in high school next year an opportunity to extend their learning into the summer months.

The short courses are designed and led by 4J teachers to engage students in innovative learning that includes meaningful experiences outside of a traditional classroom setting. High school credit is offered upon successful completion.

Course offerings explore exciting and timely topics of global and national importance and include cultural exploration and culturally diverse themes, as well as the arts and sciences.

Currently 18 summer intensive courses are scheduled, covering a wide range of topics including woodworking, stop motion animation, financial literacy, infectious disease, cooking, jazz band, geometry, engineering, Native American art and culture, watercolor painting, and more. More courses may be added throughout the spring.

Check course descriptions for dates, times and details. The first currently scheduled course begins July 2. Most courses will be taught in person. Most courses are open to students who will be in grades 9–12 in the 2021–22 school year, but some are limited to selected grades. The district can provide students with a loaned laptop and help with internet access, if needed.

More summer academic and enrichment programs for 4J students will be announced in the coming weeks.
