Class of 2021 Graduations: All Together Now

Each 4J high school will hold one in-person ceremony for entire graduating class

Changing state guidance and improving public health conditions in Lane County are expected to bring about changes to next month’s outdoor high school graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2021.

Every 4J high school now plans to hold a single in-person commencement honoring their entire graduating class. Previously, 4J’s four comprehensive high schools (Churchill, North Eugene, Sheldon and South Eugene) had expected to need to hold two ceremonies, each with half of the graduating class.

Thanks to the community for taking steps to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and give our graduating seniors and their families the option to celebrate this momentous occasion together.

All in-person graduation events will be held outside, rain or shine.

Each graduating senior will be able to invite up to four guests, to sit together as a party and maintain physical distance from other parties.

Face masks will be optional for participants and spectators, in line with recent changes in state guidance. Staff, students and families are encouraged but not required to be vaccinated.

High schools will communicate to seniors and families about graduation event plans. These plans are subject to change dependent on restrictions for outdoor gatherings.

Eugene International High School Friday, June 11, 6:30 p.m. Sheldon stadium
North Eugene High School Saturday, June 12, 2:00 p.m. North Eugene Swede Johnson Stadium
South Eugene High School Monday, June 14, 6:30 p.m. South Eugene stadium
ECCO Tuesday, June 15, 6:30 p.m. Arts & Technology Academy turf field
Sheldon High School Wednesday, June 16, 6:30 p.m. Sheldon stadium
Churchill High School Thursday, June 17, 6:30 p.m.   Churchill stadium

The link to the live broadcast of each in-person graduation ceremony will be posted on school websites and shared to families before the event.

Each high school also will hold a virtual graduation ceremony to give families a choice of ways to celebrate this major milestone. The virtual graduation ceremonies will be live streamed on Thursday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. The IHS graduation ceremony will be live streamed at 8 p.m., after the comprehensive high schools. There is no limit on spectators during the virtual graduation ceremonies, and families and friends can watch from any location.

Congratulations to the Class of 2021!
