Planning a New Camas Ridge

Community invited to review, give feedback on preliminary site plan and next steps for new school

Planning is underway and design work is beginning for the new Camas Ridge Elementary School. The new school building will be designed for safety and security, efficiency and sustainability, and 21st century learning. In a first step, community members are invited to review the preliminary site plan and provide feedback online.

Families, neighbors and community members turned out virtually on March 2 for a presentation by Pivot Architecture, the project’s architects. The virtual community meeting was held by the architects and district to introduce the design team, review the completed community work, and examine the proposed location of the school building, parking lot and playfields.

The design team reviewed the proposed location of site elements, general building shape and project schedule, and invited feedback.

Community members who did not attend the online meeting are invited to review the presentation and share their thoughts: Recorded Video / Slides / Feedback Form

The community input gathered during this phase will help inform the next steps.

School building design updates will be shared in community open houses and online information as the design is developed.

Work at the Camas Ridge site will begin in summer 2022 and the new building will open in fall 2024. The new elementary school will be a high-quality learning environment and community asset for generations to come.

The new Camas Ridge building is funded by the 2018 school bond measure. Voters in Eugene School District 4J resoundingly passed the bond measure in November 2018 to fund capital improvements for 4J schools including the construction of three new school buildings for North Eugene High School, Edison Elementary School, and Camas Ridge Elementary School. Bond funds will be used to repair schools, improve security, update technology and learning materials, support career technical education, and more. Every 4J school will benefit.
