COVID-19 Vaccinations for Educators Begin

First allotment of vaccine will provide first dose for about one-fifth of 4J team

In an encouraging step forward, 4J educators will begin receiving COVID-19 vaccines this week.

At this time, vaccine appointments for educators are available by invitation only. Staff are being contacted individually when the time comes to schedule their appointment.

Safe and effective vaccines have been developed but vaccine supplies are limited while production ramps up. Over the coming weeks vaccines will be available to all education staff and to other groups in Oregon’s rollout plan, but this will take time.

This first shipment of vaccines will cover the first dose for only about a fifth of 4J’s team, and must be prioritized. It is targeted to staff in the most contact with students, and those who work with the youngest grades that will be the first to begin hybrid in-person learning when the time comes. 4J nurses and other health services staff received the vaccine earlier due to their roles as healthcare workers.

The district is grateful for the work of our healthcare partners Cascade Health and Lane County Public Health, supporting this major undertaking and important step in getting our students back to in-person learning.
