Elementary School Device Distribution Begins

Families of students in grades K–5 can pick up iPads after Labor Day

Student iPad Pickup Schedule

Students will be learning online starting September 14, and Eugene School District 4J is working to get a school tablet or laptop into every student’s hands.

Every 4J student will be provided a take-home device for learning. Students in grades K–2 will receive iPads with protective cases. Grades 3–8 will use iPads with keyboards. High school students will be issued laptop computers.

Elementary schools will begin distributing learning devices to every student after the Labor Day holiday. Some middle and high schools also have scheduled a second round of device distribution for students who did not pick up their iPad or laptop during the initial distribution days in late August.

Students planning to attend the Eugene Online Academy may pick up their learning device at their regular brick-and-mortar school (the school they would normally be attending).

All students will be issued a district device to use for school even if they have another tablet or laptop at home. Some apps and programs are better accessed through a 4J tablet or laptop, and the district’s technology team can provide updates and fix problems more readily on a district-issued device.

The district also is providing free high-speed internet service for families who qualify and has a limited number of mobile wi-fi hotspots available to lend to families who do not have another way to access the internet at home.
