Interim Superintendent Profile: Community Input Extended

Community invited to give input on characteristics and qualifications to seek for one-year position

Superintendent Gustavo Balderas will depart in June after 5 years leading Eugene School District 4J. The Eugene School Board has declared the superintendent position vacancy and will appoint an administrator this spring to serve as interim superintendent during the 2020–21 school year, while a search process is undertaken to select the district’s next superintendent.

An important step in the selection process is developing a candidate profile—a list of desired strengths and qualities to seek in an interim superintendent. Staff, students, families and other community members are invited to provide input on draft desired characteristics and qualifications for the interim superintendent.

The online input form has been extended to Monday, April 6 at 12 p.m.

The school board will meet virtually on Tuesday, April 7, to finalize the selection process and candidate profile for the interim superintendent.
