Virtual School Board Meeting April 1

Meeting streamed live on web and radio • Public comment received via email • Online input invited on interim superintendent profile  

In an effort to reduce the spread of coronavirus COVID-19 and in adherence to Governor Kate Brown’s “Stay Home, Save Lives” executive order, the Eugene School District 4J Board of Directors will hold its April 1, 2020, 6 p.m. meeting virtually.

Pursuant to ORS 192.670, the meeting will be open to the public via live broadcast on KRVM 1280-AM and streaming online.

Public comment may be submitted by sending an email to board@4j.lane.edu, with the subject line clearly labeled “Public Comment.” The board will read, review and take into consideration all comments. Public comment received prior to the start of the board meeting will be published in board materials within 48 hours after the meeting.

The sole agenda item is the interim superintendent hiring process. The board will approve a process for appointing a candidate this spring to serve as interim superintendent during the 2020–21 school year. Superintendent Gustavo Balderas plans to depart in June after 5 years leading the district.

An important step in the selection process is developing a candidate profile—a list of the strengths and qualities that 4J’s board, staff and community think the interim superintendent should have. The community is invited to review and provide input on draft desired characteristics and qualifications for the interim superintendent by 12 p.m. on April 1.
