OAKS

The Oregon Assessment of Knowledge & Skills (OAKS) is administered annually to students in grades 3 through 8, and High School throughout districts in Oregon. The purpose of these tests is to assess both district, school, and individual student progress toward meeting the Oregon Standards in Reading, Math, Science, and Writing. OAKS is administered at the following grade levels:

  • Reading - Grades 3 through 8, High School
  • Mathematics - Grades 3 through 8, High School
  • Science - Grades 5, 8, and High School
  • Writing - Grades 4, 7, and High School

The tests are primarily administered online via the OAKS Online system at your student's school, with the exception of Writing, which is administered in a paper/pencil format. For OAKS Online tests, students may have up to three opportunities to test in each subject assessed for their grade level during the testing window.

In early September, the Oregon Department of Education releases district and schoolwide OAKS scores on-line and to the media from the previous testing year. For detailed information regarding how schools and districts scored, go to http://www.ode.state.or.us/data/schoolanddistrict/testresults/reporting/PublicRpt.aspx. For individual student results, please contact your student's school.
