National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)

The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is a nationally administered assessment administered to 4th, 8th, and 12th graders in a range of subject areas including Reading, Math, Science, Writing, US History, and Civics. Not all schools in the Eugene School District 4J are administered the NAEP, rather a sample of schools are selected by the Oregon Department of Education based on sampling techniques, in order to match the State's demographics.

Total test administration time for students is approximately 90 minutes administered in one day at each selected school. For schools participating in the NAEP, parents will be notified prior to administration, which will be taking place in late January through early March 2010 in 4J. Schools and students do not receive individual scores, as the results are aggregated at the state level for use as a state-by-state comparison.

More information and details for both schools and parents regarding the NAEP can be found through this LINK.
