With childhood obesity increasing across the nation, the role that schools play in promoting sound nutrition and physical exercise is getting a lot of attention. Superintendent George Russell appointed an advisory group of parents, students, community members and school district staff to draft a wellness policy for the district. That policy was adopted in spring 2006 and is being implemented in 4J schools during 2006-07 and beyond.
