Middle School Summer Academy 2009

Dates:  Monday, July 6 – Thursday, July 30

Days and Times:  Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.  Breakfast at 8:40 a.m.; lunch at 12:00 p.m.

Location:  Madison Middle School, 875 Wilkes Drive (the program serves all middle schools within the 4J school district).

Registration:  If your child is eligible for the Middle School Summer Academy, please contact the student achievement coordinator at your school to register. Eligibility is by teacher recommendation only, based on district criteria.  The program serves selected students who are currently in 5th, 6th and 7th grade.  

Transportation:  Students who live 1.5 miles or more from Madison Middle School will receive bus transportation to and from their home. 

Teaching Team:  Each classroom is staffed with one certified teacher and one instructional assistant. Twenty students per classroom.  Enrollment target: 160 students.

Instructional Goal:  Deliver research-based curriculum in reading, writing and mathematics to sustain or to increase performance on district and state assessments.

Open House:  Families and students are invited to an open house at Madison Middle School on the evening of Wednesday, July 8 (time TBA).
