Interpretation and Translation Services

In order to provide interpreting and translation services to Eugene 4J staff and families, an interpreter/translator pool has been created. We currently have interpreters available in Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin, and Russian. This pool is updated on an on-going basis and new languages are added as needed.

To be added to our interpreter's list an interview and current resume are required.

To Request Interpretation or Translation Services:

To assist Eugene 4J staff in requesting interpreting or translating services and to better ensure quality interpretation and translation services, the following procedures have been established:

• To request interpreting services for individual school activities such as parent conferences or general school meetings, please contact Debi Starr, ELL Program Assistant (starr@4j.lane.edu) or call 541-687-3145.

• To request Educational Support Services such as IEPs or SSTs, please contact Susan Dawe (dawe@4j.lane.edu) at Educational Support Services or call 541-687- 3360.

As part of your request, please provide us with the following information:

• Your School Name & Phone Number
• Whom to contact for confirmation
• Type of activity
• Date & Time
• Where the interpreter should report

Latino Family Liaison

The purpose of the Latino Family Liaison is to provide a comprehensive link between home and school for Latino and Migrant families in order to enhance school involvement and communication. This position focuses on schools with little or no existing Spanish bilingual support for families. Typical tasks include but are not limited to home visits, attending meetings with families, helping families access District and community resources, and facilitating communication between school personnel and families.
