North Region Improvement Plan

The North Region has been revising their Regional Improvmeent Plan for the grant years 2007-2010. Their draft of October 2007 is below:

Overall Goals: Cultural Competency, Literacy/English Language Arts (ELA), and closing the achievement gap.

Regional Goal #1: To develop cultural competency throughout the North Region by providing training opportunities for all North Eugene Region Staff, and by implementation of the ELA adoption.
Objective 1: Strengthening Regional and District K-12 articulation and leadership development program coherence.
Year One Objectives: Regional leadership collaboration to develop a coordinated plan to fully implement the new English Language Arts adoption across grade levels in every school, with planned accommodations for special populations, and professional development for all affected staff in a culturally competent model.

Regional Goal #2: To magnify leadership capacity among the administrators and staff in the North Region in order to improve student achievement.
Objective 2: Provide the context for intellectual stimulation and learning about research-related practices that transform the way teachers and principals think about and approach their work.
Year One Objectives: Fully implemented cross-region plans for in-depth training that is linked to the new ELA adoption for both principals and teachers and includes: the development of a cadre of teacher and principal coaches; cross-region grade-level teacher study groups; and a set of assessment tools designed to determine the impact of training and coaching on overall levels of implementation by region.
