AVID.  AVID is a fourth- through twelfth-grade system to prepare students in the academic middle for four-year college eligibility.  It has a proven track record in bringing out the best in students, and in closing the achievement gap.  AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination.

Racial microaggressions are subtle insults (verbal, nonverbal, and/or visual) directed toward people of color, often automatically or unconsciously. They are a subtile form of racism[1] Microaggressions can take a number of different forms including: invalidating racial-cultural issues, making stereotypic assumptions and cultural insensitivity..[2]
