Boundaries

To learn which neighborhood schools are associated with your residence, you may look up your address online or call 541-790-7553. For more general information about the district's boundaries and neighborhood school attendance areas, there is a large district map available to the public during regular office hours, in the lobby of the Instruction Department in the 4J Education Center, 200 North Monroe St. This map is updated annually.

Eugene School District 4J is an open enrollment district, allowing students to transfer to a different neighborhood school or to one of the district's alternative schools, provided there is space available. Transportation is provided only to students' neighborhood schools; parents must provide transportation for children who transfer to another neighborhood school or an alternative school.

Boundaries between school districts are determined by the respective districts and boards of education with final approval from Lane Education Service District.  The school boundaries within Eugene School District 4J are determined by a joint committee with members from the Instruction, Facilities Management and Transportation Departments. These boundaries consider pupil population and transportation routes and are relatively fixed over time. In recent years the district has built, closed and consolidated schools and has changed several school boundaries.
