All Eugene School District staff, and any retirees, are invited to attend the annual 4J Back-to-School Gathering on Thursday, Aug. 28 at South Eugene High School. Along with a continental breakfast and staff social from 7:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m., this year, we're delighted to welcome back Tom Payzant as our special guest speaker.
Board Approves Immersion Proposals
The Eugene School Board approved Superintendent George Russell's recommendations to develop plans for a pair of new language immersion programs at its June 4 meeting.
District staff will now work up a formal alternative school plan for a Chinese immersion program, and staff will also help plan a "neighborhood cluster" in the River Road area involving Howard Elementary School with a dual-Spanish-English immersion program at River Road/El Camino del Rio Elementary School. The board will review and have the option to approve the plans in the months to come. The full proposal starts on page 2 of the meeting report.
