Thank You Voters!

May 21, 2013 — Voters in Eugene School District 4J have resoundingly passed Measure 20-210, the school bond measure to provide funding for 4J schools.

Bond funds will be used to replace four aging school buildings, improve classroom technology, update instructional materials, upgrade security, repair schools, and more.

The 4J School Board thanks the voters and community for their ongoing support.

Website Design Change Coming Soon

New look to debut this summer

New website design Changes are coming to the district website. The new website will look different and be easier for parents and staff to use.

Features include:
• Cleaner, more streamlined modern design
• Better search and navigation
• More multimedia and interactivity options
• Easier and more affordable to maintain

The upgraded and redesigned site will roll out this summer after school ends.

4J offers the following summer school programs by invitation only:

Special Education Extended School Year

The district also is partnering with a local business that will offer a fee-based academic summer camp for students entering grades 6–9:

4J sponsors math-focused summer camp by local business

Fee-based camp for students entering grades 6–9 will be held July 8–August 1

Summer Springboard will offer an academic summer camp July 8–August 1, in partnership with 4J, to help keep students learning over the summer.

Summer Springboard is a fee-based program for students entering grades 6–9 who want to:

• speed up, firm up or catch up their math skills
• gain financial literacy
• learn computer programming
• enjoy outdoor activities

High School Common Schedule

All high schools in the Eugene School District will share a consistent schedule beginning in Fall 2013. Aligning high school schedules is one of several ways that 4J is working to:

• Increase student achievement and ensure that all students graduate
• Provide equitable learning opportunities for students
• Gain operational efficiencies

The annual special education reports for school districts across Oregon are now online.

4J is strongly commited to increasing achievement for all students and to closing the achievement gap. The district works to ensure that all students have access to the general education curriculum, meet or exceed grade level standards, and develop the skills necessary to ensure success in post-secondary education, in a chosen career, and as actively participating citizens.

Student Records Available From Your School

To request your transcript or other student records:

• Grades K–8: For elementary school and middle school records, contact your school.

• Grades 9–12: Contact your high school for records within the past 10 years. Contact the district office for high school records more than 10 years old.

• Undocumented youth: If you are applying for consideration of deferred action for childhood arrivals, you need records dating back to June 15, 2007. There is a form to fill out and return to the district office.

Kendall "Drive For Education" Supports Eugene Schools

Local business Kendall Toyota will donate $1,000s each month

Kendall's Amy Newport and Shanley Skillern present a check to Bethel and 4J superintendents Colt Gill and Shelley Berman. Drive For Education, a new partnership between Kendall Toyota and the 4J and Bethel school districts, is gearing up to generate substantial support for Eugene schools.

Kendall's generous contributions will provide $12,000 to 4J each month during the 2012–13 school year, plus additional funds to schools based on points earned for interactions with the business.
