- Model -
- Give examples and non-examples of being in the classroom. "I am standing in the classroom." Go outside of class-"I am standing outside of the classroom."
- Teacher explicitly teaches and models alternative options to group activities to encourage student to remain in classroom without disturbing others. Examples: Coloring or drawing at table in back of room. Holding a favorite toy or item. Reading a book outside of group. Wandering in an acceptable and predetermined area. **Individual teachers will determine what alternative activities are acceptable.

- Role-play for practice -

- Teacher reads a book to class. Student practices alternate activity.
- Skill maintenance/Generalization Activities (identify real-life situations to apply the skill) -
- Teacher prompts student to choose alternate activity prior to beginning of lesson
- Teacher documents when student demonstrates alternative activity with and without prompts. ****Prompts can be verbal or visual****
- Teacher needs to set up reinforcement schedule (time intervals dependent on the student) for student to continue desired behavior.
