Question:

When you log into eSIS, two browser windows open. One window is titled Oracle Forms Server and the other is titled Oracle Developer Forms Runtime - Web (before login) and school district Student Information System (after login). Why are there two windows?
Answer:

The Oracle Forms Server window is used to launch the second window and is used by the second window to display reports in PDF format. Both windows are necessary while running eSIS and, to exit eSIS, you should click on the exit icon and not just close the two windows.

Question:How do I place an eSIS icon in the Links toolbar of Internet Explorer (IE)?
Answer:

- Set your URL address to http://www.4j.lane.edu/esis
- Click on the IE icon in the URL address and drag it to the Links toolbar.
- Right click on your new entry in the Links toolbar and choose Rename to change the name to "eSIS."

Question:Will elementary teachers have access to eSIS?
Answer:Yes. The implementation will be phased in starting in January, 2004. This will allow time for training and to upgrade (where necessary) teacher computers.
Question:Will elementary schools be able to keep our doors closed the first week we return in August?
Answer:Yes, the entire district will keep elementary schools closed to the public the week of August 11th. This is a one-time agreement with the district and will be done to give secretaries time to learn eSIS. This information will be included with the back to school mailings.
Question:How will we produce elementary report cards?
Answer:Elementary report cards will continue on the current system for school year 2003-2004. This will allow time for the district to format an eSIS report card that meets our needs.
Question:What are the computer requirements?
Answer:Please see the 4J eSIS web page for specifications.
Question:Will we be able to produce locator cards out of eSIS?
Answer:Yes, however, they will look different and probably be on 8 1/2 x 11 paper. You may want to consider locator binders.
Question:How do I sign up for training?
Answer:Call or send e-mail to Mary Guldager in CIS (687-3999). Please let us know when you would like to attend so we can plan accordingly.
